Smartphone Based Novice Teenage Driver Support Sys

The purpose of this Contract was to develop a potential new approach to reducing teen driver fatalities. The project utilized a prototype Teen Driver Support System (TDSS) based on the use of Smartphone technology. The goals of the project were to expand the utility of this TDSS by developing a more robust system, incorporated forced functions to promote compliance of regulations known to be a problem for teen drivers, and to develop and evaluate a teen driver interface for the TDSS which facilitates usability and acceptance. A contract was necessary to access the expertise and technology needed to develop this TDSS prototype demonstration.
