Deployment of Arterial Travel Time Information Sys
93963
This Contract was awarded as part of the Mn/DOT Innovative Idea Program. The intent of this program is to fund projects that are beyond the basic or applied research stage. Projects that can benefit from an operational test setting or demonstrate ongoing advances in technology are desired through this solicitation. Projects that demonstrate a higher potential for deployment are desired over simple demonstration projects.

The outcome of this project was to determine how arterial travel time information should be displayed on Dynamic Message Signs and websites through input from focus groups and customer surveys, to deploy and evaluate the accuracy of arterial travel time estimation methods using real-time data, to deploy actual real-time arterial travel time messages on Dynamic Message Signs and on a test website, and to obtain feedback from the motoring public to determine the usefulness of the information provided.

This Contract was considered necessary to advance the efficiency of the freeway operating system through cutting edge technology in conjunction with the Minnesota Guidestar efforts
