Districts 2 & 4 Road Safety Plans
98423
This contract developed a Road Safety Plan for MnDOT District 2 and District 4 to support the Traffic Engineers in identifying corridors that may benefit from systematic low cost safety improvements. The primary focus was to provide direction to the Districts in terms of prioritization of safety needs within their roadway network. However, other local agencies, such as cities or tribal units of government, were encouraged to participate in the development of the road safety plan for the Districts. This will assist the District Traffic Engineers in delivering specific safety projects commensurate with the SHSP.

This plan provides the basis for systematic implementation of safety measures across the entire roadway network within the Districts. The end result of the process is documents that identify a gamut of proactive measures, based on current crash trends that will increase the overall safety for roadway users.
This Contract was necessary as current personnel do not have the expertise necessary to conduct this type of analysis. Traffic Engineering staff were able to develop skills as part of the process equipping them with the knowledge and expertise to revise and update the Road Safety Plans in the future.

The contractor was involved in a very detailed assignment. They did a good job managing the data and being responsive to inquiries as needed.

The contractor did a good job of delivering the project as intended. They shifted some of the work to an entry level engineer instead of a mid-level engineer. The overall product was acceptable but could have been better with additional staff involvement at higher levels.
