Bed Bug Hotline & Outreach in Minnesota

Bed bug complaints in Minnesota have been on the increase since 2009 from lodging, schools, retail, health centers, homeowners and renters. Finding reliable and vetted information on the Internet was lacking. The purpose of this project was to create a hotline/email/webpage portal addressing questions on bed bug prevention and control, develop vetted factsheets on bed bug management and provide stakeholder trainings to professional social and health workers dealing with bed bugs.

The University of MN, Dept. of Entomology, houses a nationally recognized entomologist in bed bug research that has the necessary technical components and management skill to complete this project. No other organizations within the state were providing this information.

: All reports and project objectives defined in the contract were on completed on time to the full satisfaction of the project manager.
The University of Minnesota, Dept. of Entomology, provided professional quality and expertise in the subject area and was very cooperative in working with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and its requests.
The contractor’s cost was reasonable to accomplish the objectives of the project and finished $1388 under budget.
The University of MN performance was excellent in that it carried out its obligations with a high degree of professionalism and in a timely manner.
