Mercury Control in Taconite Processing Plants....
{Empty}
Albemarle performed tests at Hibbing Taconite investigating the ability of brominated carbon injected into the process stream to control mercury emissions from taconite plants. The project was part of a major effort being made by the state and federal government to control anthropogenic emissions of mercury into the atmosphere. Mercury emission reductions are needed to bring fish mercury concentration in many lakes and streams in the US down to levels that are considered safe for consumption.

All work and reporting were completed on time. The contractor was responsive to all requests made by state and non-state participants in the study.
This contractor performed work that I consider to be about average in quality. The tests were performed according to plans and the group recieved passing scores for data-quality verifications that were required by EPA.
Based on comparison with a total of eleven bids received for this project, the costs appeared to be about average for the amount of work that was proposed and completed.
I would rate the overall performance as average as compared to other projects completed as a part of this study.
