Driver Performance and Distraction Evaluation
89261W270
This Contract determined the extent to which the in-vehicle signing application being developed in MnDOT Contract #95757 by Battelle Memorial Institute influences driver performance and perceptions of usability in both positive and negative ways. These changes in driver performance and perceptions of usability could be indicative of driver distraction and needed to be independently examined before any future deployments were considered.

Product or Result of the Contract:
A final report summarizing the simulator tests and their results.

This This Contract was necessary to evaluate the technology that is being used to conduct the Mileage Based User Fee operational demonstration project authorized by the 2007 Legislature. It is reasonable to use a contractor to conduct this evaluation as Mn/DOT does not have the expertise or the equipment to make the evaluation results conclusive
