MnDOT sought refinement and development of CSS-related training workshops, webinars and forums for deployment in FY12 through contracted services with the U of MN CTS team that had developed, deployed and documented recent MnDOT CSS-related workshops, webinars and forums in order to continue building upon their skills, successes, experiences, observations and lessons learned. The FY12 contract was necessary to supplement MnDOT’s limited staffing and capacity for deploying the training curriculum and venues. The contract scope of work included one 2-day CSS Core Foundations Workshop, two 2.5-day Advanced Flexibility in Design Workshops, one 2-day CSS Integrations Forum and two CSS Webinars. Consistent with MnDOT’s Strategic Vision and Plan, integration of CSS philosophy, principles, and practices needs to be taken to new and heightened levels within MnDOT and these (6) CSS-related training venues were deemed critical towards that end and were deployed between November of 2011 and June of 2012. The training provides critical knowledge and skill building that helps MnDOT to: 1) improve customer and stakeholder relationships, 2) improve organizational performance and efficiency, 3) improve organizational capacity to balance competing objectives and optimize return on investments, and 4) achieve many other desired agency and user benefits that are correlated with applying CSS principles by recent national (NCHRP) research.
