Estimation of Winter Snow Operation Performance Me
89261 W199
This study proposes to develop a set of new winter maintenance performance measures using the commonly available traffic flow data, i.e., those being collected with the in-pavement loop detectors on metro freeways at the Regional Traffic Management Center. The key components of the new measures include the “recovery time” to “normal” traffic conditions as well as the quality of traffic flows during the maintenance operations. Further, the new measures will be incorporated into the new freeway corridor condition analysis system (FACTS), which is being developed in a separate research by the PI, so that they can be automatically calculated and visualized in a user friendly manner
