The Minnesota Council on Transportation Access (MCOTA) was established in 2010 to study, evaluate, oversee and make recommendations to improve the coordination of transportation services provided to the transit public. This project will study economic benefits of selected cases in transportation coordination that has been implemented in Minnesota. However, the economic benefits of transportation services in Minnesota have not been quantified in previous research. In 2011, MCOTA developed a report on "Successful Local Transportation Coordination Case Studies." In this project, the University will 1) develop a conceptual framework of "value engineering" in transportation coordination, 2) work with MCOTA to identify no more than 5 exemplary Minnesota cases, and 3) apply the method to assess financial and economic benefits of these selected cases.
