Accelerate High Priority Surface Water Quality Mon
CR836
The SWCD will implement an aggressive short-term monitoring program that encompasses biological, chemical, and physical parameters. Through the use of citizen volunteer monitors, we will monitor 36 high priority lakes which have been targeted by the MPCA as needing assessment, by testing for excess nutrients to determine if impairment thresholds have been reached. The lakes will be sampled at least 12 times between May, 2007 and October, 2008 for chlorophyll A and total phosphorous, and a secchi reading will be recorded. All test results will be obtained through contract with a certified laboratory. All sampling results will be recorded in STORET. Two full years (minimum of 12 sampling events) of sampling will occur in order to fully assess the Impaired Waters Program.
