Identifying the Missing of Minnesota: A Comprehens
{Empty}
The BCA FSS has secured funding from the Department of Justice under the FY12 Using DNA Technology to Identify the Missing grant opportunity. The project outlined in the application entitled “Identifying the Missing of Minnesota: A Comprehensive Approach” involves a collaboration between the BCA FSS and Dr. Susan Myster, Director of Forensic Sciences, at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. As outlined in the application, Dr. Myster was contacted (via Hamline University) to provide required anthropological examinations of the unidentified human remains covered under this grant. She was also asked to assist in the entry of necessary information into the NamUS database (National Missing and Unidentified Persons System). Hamline University had agreed to relieve Dr. Myster of her Spring 2013 teaching responsibilities so Dr. Myster could dedicate her time to the examinations required under this grant. In return, Hamline University was to be reimbursed under this contract for Dr. Myster’s replacement staff, not to exceed a total of $31,500.00.

The BCA FSS secured funding from the Department of Justice under the FY12 Using DNA Technology to Identify the Missing. The application, entitled “Identifying the Missing of Minnesota: A Comprehensive Approach”, involves a collaboration between the BCA FSS and Dr. Susan Myster, Director of Forensic Anthropology at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. Dr. Myster was specifically identified in the grant application and funding was contingent upon her participation on this project. Additionally, a vast majority of the samples to be tested were in the custody of Dr. Myster at the Midwest Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey, MN. Access to these samples would be ascertained directly through Dr. Myster in order to meet the additional forensic testing requirements of the NIJ/OJP approved grant application. Successful completion of this project and, receipt of funding directly related to this project, was dependent upon this collaboration with Dr. Susan Myster covered under this contract.
