SWAG 10 - Yellow Medicine River SWAG Program - Tar
CR3327
The Yellow Medicine River has been studied intensively for the past 12 years through a Clean Water Partnership, a Section 319, and a TMDL on the South Branch. These studies have included many montoring sites that have been sampled throughout the duration of these studies. The goals of this project is to revisit some of the existing sites and examine new sites for their level of impairment in terms of phosphorus, nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, sulfate, hardness chloride, ecoli and biological parameters. This effort will allow the Yellow Medicine River Watershed District staff and managers to further their understanding of the river water quality and identify impairments within the watershed and prepare subsequent plans to address these impairments. The sites were proposed by the MPCA as unassessed sites that may be impaired for one or more parameters. The intent of this sampling program is to determine the impairment status of these sites for chemical and biological parameters.
