This project is a partnership between the St Louis River Citizen Action Comittee (SLRCAC) , Minnesota Waters and the Fond du lac Tribal and Community College (FDLTCC). The project will provide data to suport water quality assessments for a number of streams that are tributaries of the St Louis River. As the largest tributary to Lake Superior, the St. Louis River is a significant region wde water resource. This monitoring project will also include a number of partnering schools that have participated in past River Watch program along with citizen volunteer monitors. Studentts will perform teh macroinvertabrate monitoring in the fall.

The SLRCAC will be responsible for the overall project coordination and adminstration of this grant. Julene Boe will be the Project Manager for this project and be responsible for the administration of the grant. Megan O’Shea has been hired by the SLRCAC and will be the Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator will organize the volunteers monitors who will perform the assessment of the streams and provide on-going support to the volunteers to ensure all sites are monitored as scheduled as well as ensure data is submitted to the MPCA. The volunteer monitors will attend a mandatory training session, perform the sampling, and submit the samples to the laboratory. The Project Coordinator will ensure that all of the sampling data is submitted to the faculty at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College.

The FLDTCC will be responsible for the required data forms and sumitting the data electronically to STORET.

The SLRCAC will provide logistical support for the volunteers. The Minnesota Waters will be responsible for training volunteers and providing any additional technical support.
