Safety Rest Area Advance Signing Enhancements
1203
Implement some findings from both qualitative and quantitative customer research that Mn/DOT funded in 2009 regarding advance signing for rest areas. Implementing the findings would supports two primary objectives of the Mn/DOT Safety Rest Area Program, specifically to:
- Make our customers the center of every decision and every service provided.
- Improve services and become more accountable.
Survey respondents from the 5-state phone survey rated, Signs on highway listing rest area amenities and services¿ among the Top 5 amenities that would increase the general public’s frequency of stopping at rest areas. Communication of services and features that are available at each rest stop, particularly through advance signage on the road will help drivers determine in advance whether to stop at a specific facility. In addition, the services listings would help to manage travelers expectations.
