Evaluation of Sign Replacement Method
2974
This evaluation of sign replacement method was based on studies completed by other states and NCHRP, MnDOT data, and professional knowledge and experience of task force members. The second part was to evaluate the risk and cost effectiveness of the existing method versus other methods available. The evaluation took into account MnDOT’s available resources, sign sheeting materials, sign hits and repairs, need for re-engineering based on new standards, etc.
Recommended changes were presented to the State Sign Inventory and Management Committee for review and approval.

The outcome of this Contract was a Final Report documenting the objective as stated above and all recommendations. Approved recommendations will be considered for insertion into the TEM and Maintenance Manuals in the future.

This contract was necessary to meet the June 13, 2013 deadline to update the current sign replacement cycle for cost effectiveness while minimizing risk and ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and statutes.
