Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: The objective of the proposed work is to evaluate density variations in newly constructed pavements using an air-coupled, vehicle based, ground penetrating radar (GPR) system. GPR measurements will improve the quality of new roadway construction by quickly identifying density deficiencies immediately after construction, so that (a) the roadway contractor can implement corrective measures; and/or (b) the State can implement pay factors associated with the achievement of target density values.
