I-35E Cayuga Interchange-Historical mitigation doc
3494
The purpose of this contract was to prepare mitigation documentation of Bridge No. 92297 as stipulated in a Memorandum of Agreement among the Federal Highway Administration, the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), and State. Bridge No. 92297 has been found to be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places as an early example of a reinforced-concrete flat-slab bridge designed during 1908-1912 by CAP Turner, who patented the new design around the same time. Because State is planning to demolish the bridge, Contractor will prepare archival documentation as mitigation for the adverse effect. Contractor will compile Minnesota Historic Properties Record (MHPR) Level I documentation for Bridge No. 92297 according to the guidelines developed by the Minnesota SHPO. The MHPR documentation will consist of photographic recordation and written narrative history. In addition, Contractor will record the bridge during deconstruction, including measured drawings and photographs, in order to document whether or not the bridge was built as planned.
