Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: To promote voluntary truck weight compliance through public education and outreach which significantly reduces damage to public roads & highways and therefore reduces repair expenses. The University’s Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) coordinates and delivers truck weight compliance training, handles event logistics, markets the training, identifies training instructors, and updates and maintains the Truck Weight Compliance website. This contract is necessary to complete the amount of work involved given the current work load, staff availability, and expertise of MnDOT staff.
