Minnesota Field Test of CrashHelp
99008w58
This research project examined the benefits of implementing CrashHelp, a technology designed to facilitate near real-time communication between emergency responders and emergency rooms enabling advance notification of crash severity and related information that can be used to best prepare for a patient’s arrival, in rural areas.

The final result of the contract was a field operational test of the system that provided improved information collection, notification times, patient care decisions and communication between pre-hospital transport and hospital organizations.

This contract was necessary to obtain necessary information that advances one of MnDOT’s flagship initiatives, Towards Zero Deaths. It was reasonable to use a contract in order to get the level of experience and expertise needed to perform this research work.
