This study will evaluate existing difficulties and challenges the visually impaired face and provide guidelines for developing standardized routing and bypass messages for work zones. The resulting effort will lead to improve the consistency and quality of providing accessible work zone information to the pedestrians and eliminate physical and information barriers for people with disabilities, particularly the visually impaired. If successful, this approach can be implemented at all urban and suburban work zone locations involving pedestrian movements. The ultimate goal is to improve work zone safety and mobility.
