{Empty}
The project was necessary to improve maternity care practices and policies that support breastfeeding. These maternity care practices increase breastfeeding initiation and duration among mothers who choose to breastfeed. The outcome was to increase the number of maternity centers implementing supportive breastfeeding interventions as outlined by the WHO’s Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. The project supported Minnesota Department of Health framework goals to promote health through the lifespan, make physical environments safe, and assure strong systems for health.
