Monitoring of the Big Sandy Area Lakes Watershed
CR4434
The Aitkin County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Big Sandy Area Lakes Watershed Management Project are proposing to monitor two lakes and one stream site in 2011 and 2012. Both of the two lakes are minimally developed. Water quality data is of interest to local partners as “unimpacted” reference information. The stream site was selected because it is on a stream that has shown elevated levels of nutrients at other monitored locations.
Successful completion of this work will allow for the water quality of the two lakes and one stream site to be assessed. This will assist lakeshore owners with managing their lakes, and will also be an asset to water planning efforts in the county. We are committed to learning more about the water resources of Aitkin County, and look forward to partnering with our local volunteers, the Big Sandy Area Lakes Watershed Management Project, and MPCA to complete the monitoring proposed here.
