The purpose of the contract was to assist Minnesota Security Hospital South Unit in the development of a Best Practices model for direct service delivery to a population of patients characterized by Schizophrenia and negative symptoms. This contract included consultation on the implementation of the Social Learning Program which specifically targets effective treatment for this population in terms of increasing socialization, active engagement in treatment and group therapy sessions, activities of daily living, prosocial behaviors, and decreasing isolative and withdrawn behaviors. This model was developed around the implementation of a token economy system with constant reinforcers and objective measures of behavior change. The contract also allowed consultants to assist with the development of an accompanying computer program that was adapted into an existing Electronic Health System for objective measurement of patient growth and program development / progress.
