Bed Bug Outreach in Minnesota
{Empty}
This project expanded Minnesota's Let's Beat the Bug! Campaign to incoporate new priorities and further increase benefits of Minnesota residents involving bed control. Bed bugs are a particular problem with low income populations which attempt "do-it-yourself" treatments which are seldom effective. In past years advances have been made towards combatting bed bug epidemic by developing high quality educational materials in multiple languages. The need for developing new methods of devliery and updating this information was addressed in this project.

The University of Minnesota, Dept. of Entomology, houses a nationally recognized bed bug entomologist with previous experience in conducting bed bug control for low income populations in Minnesota. The University of Minnesota also has the necessary technical components and management required for a project of this scope. Addtionally, the University of Minnesota has developed a creditable information line on bed bugs, plus there are no other organizations or agencies within Minnestoa providing this type of information.

The Unvierstiy of Minnesota (Dept. of Entomology) was very timely in submitting quarterly reports. All reports and invoices were submitted in a timely manner.
The U of Minnesota provided professional work that is of high quality and recognized by other agencies and businesses (i.e. health departments, structural pest control companies, housing authorities, and ELP organizations) as being directly applicable in addressing the urgent needs of managing bed bugs in Minnesota populations.
The contractor's cost for this project was reasonable and all invoices were submitted on time.
The overall performance of the University of Minnesota was excellent. The work, outcomes, and communications were of high quality and made working with the Univerity of Minnesota a very postive experience.
