Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: There is a need in Minnesota to update the certification and education program for Type 5 Wastewater Operators. Type 5 Wastewater Operators are required for facilities that apply industrial wastewaters on the land. Wastewater spray operators are a small segment of the wastewater operator community. Wastewaters include nonhazardous liquid waste from commercial, industrial or agricultural operations that are amenable to treatment through land application and provide nutrients to crops and/or improve soil. Wastewaters treated through land application are the result of processes such as food and beverage processing, livestock vehicle washing, ethanol production, generation of electricity, and leachate from permitted landfills.
