Bacterial Inactivation and Removal Credits
{Empty}
MDH was in need of research and documentation to support regulatory guidance for bacteria log reduction credits assigned to standard treatment processes. Research will include a comprehensive international literature review of available data on bacterial inactivation / removal for five water and wastewater treatment unit processes including chlorination, chloramination, ozonation, UV disinfection and membrane filtration. Documentation will consist of compilation and/or creation of bacterial inactivation / removal tables for each process that can be used by the State to assign log reduction credits required by the 2020 Minnesota Plumbing Code for onsite water sources. Operating conditions necessary for inactivation / removal must be included. A specific list of any missing data gaps and appropriate methodologies to fill the gaps will be produced.
