Preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences
{Empty}
The purpose of the contract was to obtain the contractor's expertise in data related to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and shared risk and protective factors for ACES, as well as access to local community coalitions and organizations working locally to prevent ACEs. MDH staff did not have the capacity to do a full scan of data sources/variables available, and the contractor completed the scan and facilitated a process to identify key indicators for a State ACEs dashboard. In addition, the contractor conducted key informant interviews with staff at State agencies and local organizations doing ACEs related work to understand work currently ongoing and make recommendations to better align efforts. In collaboration with MDH staff, the contractors developed case studies of ACEs prevention work as well as info sheets describing evidence-based ACEs prevention strategies.

The contractors were able to complete activities according to the negotiated timeline. When a delay did occur they communicated with us ahead of time, and were clear about our delay in providing comments back to them would require additional time for them to address the comments. Overall they were very timely.
The contractors went above and beyond what we expected. For the scan of potential data sources and variables they provided a very clean and easy-to access spreadsheet of data available, the specific language of the indicator and potential responses, years the data were available for, how it was available (e.g., publicly available, DUA required), and any specific caveats to know about the data.
The budget was developed in partnership, and the contractor was open about what the costs would be and they stayed within budget.
We were very satisfied with all of the work Wilder has done for us.
