The Minnesota Department of Education is implementing a five-year Federal Department of Education Assistance for Arts Educators grant in 2021. This grant is focused on developing culturally responsive and anti-racist arts education curriculum, practices, and policies. As a part of this program MDE has identified has identified equity and music studio production/recording arts as a focus for professional develop offered to teachers based on opportunities and gaps in the field.
4 Learning supports schools, districts, and states across the US and beyond in better serving young people by developing learner-centered, democratic, project-based learning infrastructures, including studio production and recording spaces in existing educational settings. They train educators (teachers and school leaders) on how to maximize learning outcomes from music studio spaces, studio staff, and others responsible for student success. This is a single sole source because 4 Learning is the only organization of its kind working in Minnesota to provide this type of professional learning in a recording arts studio focused on equity and recording arts in a K-12 setting.
